We need your help! Last year we raised $1450 with box tops! To date we have raised $800. We need a lot more box tops! A contest flier and a labeled sandwich baggie were sent home with all students to help easily collect and submit the Box Tops you've been saving. The grade that collects the most Box Tops will receive a Fouse Fox drawstring bag, compliments of the PTO! The contest runs now through end of day, Friday, February 23rd. Please review the contest flier for all details; a copy of the flier is attached for your reference. As of Saturday, 2/17, here is where each class currently stands: · Kindergarten - 0 · 1st Grade - 215 · 2nd Grade - 270 · 3rd Grade - 256 · 4th Grade - 167 · 5th Grade - 88 Looks like 2nd grade is in the lead but 3rd graders are close behind! Good luck to all!! Story Teller Hank Fincken Captivates Fouse Students with Tall Tales Fouse students and staff welcomed storyteller Hank Fincken to their school on February 8. Fincken, in character of Johnny Appleseed, shared some tall tale adventures concerning his travels throughout the Midwest. Pupils learned the difference between myths and tall tales, while learning about some of the history of Appleseed’s time. For more than 20 years, Fincken has toured as a living history performer in Europe, South America and the United States. Numerous cultural institutions endorse him, including the Indiana and Ohio Humanities Councils. This is one of many things the PTO is able to support because of your fundraising support! Thank you so much! Fouse Variety Show – Thank You! Wow, what a night it was! Thanks to all of our performers at the Variety Show on Friday night! They did such a great job – so talented and entertaining to watch! We would also like to express our appreciation for all of our parent and student volunteers who worked so hard behind the scenes to make this show such a fun event! Finally, thank you to Mrs. Doone and Student Council families for providing food and donations for their Bake Sale and Raffle. Time to get practicing for the 2019 show, we’re looking forward to it already! Family Reading Night - Save the Date LIGHTS! CAMERA! READ! This year's Fouse Family Reading Night will be held on Wednesday, March 7th from 6:30 - 8pm at Fouse. We will be celebrating reading and movies as we focus on books that were made into movies. Come join the Fouse family for an evening of fun, interactive literacy activities. Last Call for Yearbook Orders! If you would like to order a Yearbook for your student and have not already done so, please complete the order form that was sent home this last week and send it in, along with a payment of $15, by no later than Friday, February 23rd. You may also place an order online by visiting book.hrimaging.com. Please note, your student received a form only if they have not already ordered a yearbook. Reminder from the Fouse Health Clinic A quick reminder of clinic guidelines for sending student’s home from school: 1. Fever of 100 degrees or higher 2. Vomiting 3. Diarrhea 4. Undiagnosed rash or head lice Remember: If your child is sent home with a fever or wakes up with a fever, the student needs to stay home for 24 hours after they are fever free without the help of medication. If a doctor diagnoses your child with an illness, please let the attendance clerk know what the diagnosis is when calling your child’s absence in. Thank you for your help! Fouse Health Clinic - Clothing Donations The school clinic has a great need for gently used clothing. If you have any unwanted clothing, please consider donating it to the clinic. Items in the greatest need include the following: · Sweatpants/Track Pants · Underwear · Jeans · Shorts · Socks · Shirts · Tennis Shoes/Slip-on Shoes (no boots) Items are needed in sizes 4-14 for both boys and girls. If you have any donations, please drop them off in the office at Fouse. Thanks very much for your consideration; your donation is greatly appreciated! Pop Tabs Quarterly Contest - Sponsored by Student Council Each quarter, Student Council will be hosting a contest to see which classroom can collect the most Pop Tabs. A new contest is starting for the 3rd quarter so if you have any aluminum Pop Tabs from cans, we encourage you to send them in with your student & place them in the collection container in their classroom from now until March 7th. The winning class will win a sweet treat! The Pop Tabs are donated to The Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio, which uses them to raise thousands of dollars for their program every year. For more information about this program, please visit http://rmhc-centralohio.org/get-involved/pop-tabs/. Student Council appreciates your support of this wonderful program! Reminder: Bundle Up for Outdoor Recess! Now that the cold winter weather has officially arrived, we would just like to remind all parents to ensure that your children are dressed appropriately for recess each day. Outdoor recess will take place daily unless the wind chill is 20 degrees or below! Heavy coats, hats, gloves, mittens, etc. will ensure that students are warm and comfortable outside during the winter months. It is also a very good idea to write your child's name in their outdoor gear as well.
