If you have not already done so, we encourage you to read through the two letters inside the envelope that was sent home; copies of those letters, as well as the donation tracking sheet which is stapled to the envelope you received, are also attached to this email for your reference. As of Friday, 9/2, the following classes are in the lead with the most class participation...the prize is a donut party: 1. Wagner 2. Denney/Kahler/Butler (tie) 3. Considine/Kellogg (tie) And these classes are in the lead with the highest dollar amount in donations collected so far...the prize is a pizza party: 1. Denney 2. Considine 3. Butler If you would like, donations may also be made online via PayPal. It's a great way for family and friends who live out of town to help contribute to this great cause! If you choose to donate electronically, please ensure that your child's name and their teacher's name is noted so that they receive credit toward any prizes that they may earn. http://fousepto.weebly.com/walk-a-thon.html Our Walk-A-Thon requires approximately 100 volunteers to make it a successful and fun event for our students! At this time, we are urgently in need of "Money Counters" to help each week. Each shift as a "money counter" will take an hour or less of your time. If you're able to help, please click on the following link to select date(s)/time slot(s). Thank you in advance for your assistance! www.SignUpGenius.com/go/30E0D45A4AC2AAAFE3-walkathon If you have any questions about the Walk-A-Thon, please contact Stephanie Dawson at [email protected]. "The Leader in Me" Presentation, September 21st Exciting things are happening at Fouse!! Mr. Stranges and the entire staff have been investigating a school-wide character development program that would enrich and enhance the experiences our children have at Fouse. By conducting school visits and a staff Book Study, they have found a program that focuses on our children being leaders in their own peer environment. It’s called “The Leader in Me” and it’s written by Steven Covey. Many of you may be familiar with Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” - this is a program that is focused specifically on schools and children. The Covey Organization will be coming to Fouse on Wednesday, September 21st at 6:30pm, to share more about their program, the implementation and the value they can deliver. If Fouse implements this program, it will require support and commitment from the PTO, the students, the staff and the entire Fouse community, so PLEASE come join us to learn more, ask questions and become informed. As a PTO, we want to share this decision with ALL of our Fouse families. A flyer with more information about the meeting on the 21st is also attached. If you have any questions, please contact Erica Wares, PTOPresident, at [email protected]. Watering New Trees on the Playground - Volunteers Needed As you may know, the PTO was able to purchase 6 shade trees for the playground last year! These trees are still new and need weeklywatering. It can be a lengthy task (an estimated 2-3 hours each week) but well worth it for the years of shade and enjoyment that it will bring our students! When volunteering, you are welcome to bring your children and pets to play and run around. If any of your or your family members are interested in helping, we would truly appreciate it! Please use this link to sign up for a shift: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050944adaa23a31-fouse If you have any questions, please contact Erica Wares at [email protected]. Hand Sanitizer Donations Requested Our lunch/recess schedules have been adjusted slightly this year and some grades now go to recess first and then come in for lunch after. This means that they class doesn’t have the opportunity to wash hands before they eat. Thankfully, our Duty Aides have been on top of our students' safety, health and well-being and have been hand sanitizing the kids. In order to keep this going throughout the year, we’d like to ask families to donate large bottles of hand sanitizer. If you would like to donate, please send in hand sanitizer with your student; they are asked drop it off in the office. Thanks very much for your help with this! Help Wanted: Library Volunteers Library volunteers are critical to helping all of our Fouse students have a positive experience in our library. The library is open on A, B, D and F days. Library volunteers can choose which days they want to help. They are not required to commit to any specific schedule and background checks are not required. If you are available to help in the library, please use this link to sign up for specific day(s) and time(s): http://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040c4aafa728a64-sign Please contact our Media Specialist, Mrs. Meta, at [email protected], with any questions. Fouse Spirit Wear: Thank you for your order! Thanks to everyone who purchased Spirit Wear during our recent sale! Our back-to-school sale has now ended, however, another sale will be starting in the coming weeks and there will be several opportunities to get your Fouse Spiritwear throughout the year. When the next sale begins, order forms will be available electronically on our PTO website and will also be sent home in your students' folders. Girl Scouts Recruitment Night, September 12th If you are interested in getting involved in Girl Scouts this year, please attend this informational meeting at Westerville North High School from7-8pm. http://www.wcsoh.org/docs/district/virtualbackpack/half_sheet_flyers_2016_fillable_2_per_sheet_template.pdf New Birthday Treat Policy As communicated by Mr. Stranges last week, we have a new birthday treat policy. Following is a brief summary: In an effort to nurture healthy choices and to strengthen our school-wide commitment to wellness, we will be implementing new practices for individual student celebrations (birthdays, moving to a new school, etc.) and we will no longer allow students to distribute edible treats for these events. Instead, we have identified other celebration options. Below are our school’s approved choices for alternatives to food treats:
We appreciate your partnership as we implement our new school practices. Please note that any food-item sent to school will NOT be opened or distributed and will be returned home with the child. We will continue to have school wide celebrations such as the Fall Party, Winter Party and Valentine Party, at which we will continue to share nutritious snacks and will allow classrooms to share some treats. Should you have further questions, please feel free to contact the school office. EZPay Activated for 2016-17 School Year If you have not already done so, Westerville City School District (WCSD) families may begin making online financial transactions, such as adding money to a student’s lunch account or paying certain school and class fees, using any Visa or MasterCard (including Debit Visa and MasterCard). School fees are not yet available to be paid via EZPay but will be soon. There is no cost for families to register, browse or check a child’s meal account balance through SPS EZPay. When depositing funds into a lunch account, confirmed transactions made by 5:30 a.m. will be available in a student's meal account for use that same day, even though it may take up to 24 hours for the deposit to be reflected on-line. The use of EZPay is optional and the district will continue to accept cash and checks for payment of fees or deposits into meal accounts. Customer service questions regarding the EZPay system can be directed to [email protected]. Families may direct questions about school fees and lunch accounts to their child’s school. https://www.spsezpay.com/Westerville/login.aspxx PTO Communication - Facebook/Website In addition to the emails that you've started to receive from the PTO, another great way to get updates and learn more about all of the happenings at Fouse is to "like" our school's Facebook page.
