AIR Testing Begins This Week
Ohio’s standards-based education system establishes the criteria that define what your child is expected to know at each grade level. Students in grades 3-9 have the opportunity to demonstrate the standards they have learned when they take Ohio’s State Tests in April (aka “AIR” tests). Please check the date for your child’s tests, and be sure that they get a good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast on each testing day.  The complete schedule can be found here:  https://secure.onecallnow.com/Attachments/257846_e503eec4-8f57-4e9b-8298-b739fbe1e971.pdf

Starry Night Festival, April 10
The festival will offer dynamic learning experiences with experts from Columbus’ premier educational, business, and non-profit organizations. Geared toward students through 8th grade and their families, the event highlights the connection between all the arts and science—with the theme, “Art and Science – Fueling Imagination”. Starry Night provides the opportunity for your business to participate in many ways: bring your family, volunteer, work with us to develop an interactive activity for the students, or be recognized for supporting the festival through a financial sponsorship.  http://westervillepartnersforeducation.org/starry-night/

Moving Up Night, April 12
Westerville City Schools invites incoming sixth grade students and their parents to attend Moving Up Night, an evening of orientation focused on the transition from elementary to middle school.  The Genoa Middle School orientation will be on April 12 at 6:30pm. 2016 Fouse GEM Award Winner is Kenwyn Chambers!
Westerville Parent Council and Roush Honda are pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s GEM Awards.  The GEM award winner for Fouse is Kenwyn Chambers.  Now in its thirteenth year, the GEM Awards program, which stands for “Great Educator Mentor,” recognizes volunteers and district staff who go above and beyond for students in Westerville schools.

GEM Award recipients will be recognized during a special session of the Westerville Board of Education on Monday, April 18, at 7:00 p.m. in the Westerville North High School auditorium, located at 950 County Line Road.  This special session is open to the public, who are encouraged to attend and help celebrate those who do so much for so many.  See more at: http://www.wcsoh.org/News/4767#sthash.iEirPiFb.dpuf

Teacher of the Month Program
In partnership with ThisWeek Community News, and through the support of Education First Credit Union, the WEF is pleased to provide community members with an opportunity to recognize outstanding Westerville City School District teachers through its new Teacher of the Month program.

Teachers chosen to receive this honor will be featured in a full-page advertisement in the ThisWeek Westerville News & Public Opinion. Following a thorough and thoughtful review of nominees, three recipients -- one from the elementary, middle and high school levels -- will be selected each month.

Nominations may be submitted through the WEF website at www.westervilleeducationfoundation.com.
