B Day Open House, August 11 Meet your teachers, see your classroom, and drop off your school supplies between 2:00-3:00 at Fouse. This is an exciting annual event for our Fouse Foxes, and is the official kickoff to the school year! School Supply Drive The Fouse PTO is conducting a school supply drive! Here's how it works: While you are buying your school supplies, pick up an extra item or two off your child's supply list. Bring the item to Open House on Tuesday, August 11, or send it to school with your child any time between August 13-21. We will have a collection box in the lobby during that time. All donated supplies will be distributed to Fouse students at the discretion of school staff. First Day of School, August 13 Classes for most Westerville City Schools students will begin on Thursday, August 13, 2015. Elementary pupils will start school at 9:05 a.m. and dismiss at 3:30 p.m. Kindergarten and Special Needs Preschool starts Monday, August 17. Morning kindergarten runs from 9:05 to 11:40 a.m. Afternoon kindergarten sessions will be held from 12:55 to 3:30 p.m. Children are encouraged to take the bus the first day of school due to heavy traffic flow in the drop-off line. If you choose to drive your child to school, please give yourself extra time since the traffic lines tend to be long on the first day. 2nd Annual Fouse Family Picnic Pack your picnic basket and join us for the Fouse Family Picnic on Sunday, August 16 from 5-7pm! All Fouse families are invited to come to the school playfield for this free activity. Bring dinner for you family and your favorite lawn game (Frisbees, soccer balls, corn hole, etc.), see some old friends and make some new ones, too! *Note that all families are responsible for providing their own food/drinks. https://www.facebook.com/events/1667771440119757/1667771450119756/ Bus Routes Now Available Check your child’s bus number and pickup/dropoff times. If your child will be riding a bike to school, please take a moment to watch the videos and learn about other bicycle safety and maintenance opportunities here: www.westerville.org/bike Basic bicycle safety tips to review include: 1) Always wear a helmet. It’s for your safety and it’s the law. 2) Keep your bike in good working order. Make sure lights and reflectors are installed. 3) STOP. LOOK. LISTEN. Never ride while distracted. 4) Speak up and let others know you’re there. Saying “on your left” lets them know you’re behind them and want to pass. 5) Use proper hand signals when you are turning. 6) Never assume a car, truck or other vehicle will stop or slow down for you while you’re riding.
