Bring the item to Open House on Tuesday, August 11, or send it to school with your child any time between August 13-21. We will have a collection box in the lobby during that time. All donated supplies will be distributed to Fouse students at the discretion of school staff. Curriculum Nights All parents are encouraged to attend Curriculum Night for their child’s grade. Parents will meet the teachers to learn what topics and concepts will be covered throughout the year, as well as what the expectations are for both students and parents. Each school office and the Food Service office has a copy of the policy which may be reviewed by any interested party. http://www.wcsoh.org/News/4414 SPS EZPay Activated for 2015-16 School Year Westerville City School District (WCSD) families may begin making online financial transactions, such as adding money to a student’s lunch account or paying certain school and class fees, using any Visa or MasterCard (including Debit Visa and MasterCard). There is no cost for families to register, browse or check a child’s meal account balance through SPS EZPay. When depositing funds into a lunch account, confirmed transactions made by 5:30 a.m. will be available in a student's meal account for use that same day, even though it may take up to 24 hours for the deposit to be reflected on-line. The use of EZPay is optional and the district will continue to accept cash and checks for payment of fees or deposits into meal accounts. Customer service questions regarding the EZPay system can be directed to [email protected]. Families may direct questions about school fees and lunch accounts to their child’s school. https://www.spsezpay.com/westerville/login.aspx Nationwide Children’s Mobile Care Center, August 26 On Wednesday, August 26, 2015, the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Mobile Care Center will be in Westerville from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., parked in the lot at the Early Learning Center at 936 Eastwind Drive. A doctor and a nurse from NCH will be on board to offer a full range of immunizations including DPT and MMR vaccines required for children entering Kindergarten, along with the latest Tdap immunization required for current and incoming Middle School students. This is your opportunity to schedule an appointment time to get your child’s updated immunizations that may be required for the 2015-2016 school year. Families are also welcome to schedule well-checks; the doctor and nurse on the unit will address current illness concerns as time allows. Families are always encouraged to contact their Primary Care Provider for medical services. The Care Mobile is available to serve all who do not have a medical home. All students within the Westerville School District are invited to schedule an appointment time to receive services from the NCH Care Unit on August 26. Please contact Kathy Hayman at Cherrington Elementary School beginning August 1 to schedule your child’s appointment. She can be reached at [email protected] or by calling 614/797-7056 Bike Safe Westerville The Westerville Parks and Recreation Department and the Division of Police have teamed up to create a Bike Safe Westerville video series to highlight the importance of preventative bike maintenance, general safe practices and rules to follow while riding on the roadway or path. If your child will be riding a bike to school, please take a moment to watch the videos and learn about other bicycle safety and maintenance opportunities here: www.westerville.org/bike Basic bicycle safety tips to review include: 1) Always wear a helmet. It’s for your safety and it’s the law. 2) Keep your bike in good working order. Make sure lights and reflectors are installed. 3) STOP. LOOK. LISTEN. Never ride while distracted. 4) Speak up and let others know you’re there. Saying “on your left” lets them know you’re behind them and want to pass. 5) Use proper hand signals when you are turning. 6) Never assume a car, truck or other vehicle will stop or slow down for you while you’re riding.
