Fouse PTO Committees 2020-2021
Want to be involved in a committee this year? Please email: [email protected] for more info.
Yearbook
This typically is a single volunteer job. This parent volunteer would ensure that HR Imaging photographer is present at significant Fouse events throughout the year. We also hold an annual Fouse yearbook art contest for the students. Parent volunteer is the main contact for HR Imaging (publisher of the yearbook), will review draft, hold and select yearbook artwork winner and coordinate sales/yearbook distribution.
Walk-a-Thon
Fouse's Walk-a-Thon is our school's biggest fundraiser for the year. School wide, your children will try to collect donations for this super fun event held on the track at Genoa Middle School. Sign up for this committee to help at the event, stuff envelopes, create advertisements on flyers/posters to send home, mc the event, dress in the Fouse Fox costume or as a money counter. This is a huge event and needs as many volunteers as we can get. This event is held in October each year.
Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fairs promote literacy through recreational reading. The Book Fair provides an opportunity for Fouse families to purchase new books by offering good books at a reasonable price. For kids at Fouse, the fairs are a beloved highlight. They also serve as a PTO fundraiser. Fall Fair and Spring Fair.
SuperGames
Super Games celebrates the end of the school year. Students have the opportunity to play and have fun with parents, staff and each other. This is one of our annual events that many of our students look forward to all year long. This is held the last week of school.
Variety Show
The Variety Show is a popular event that brings the Fouse community together. Families and staff spend the evening celebrating the unique talents of our students. It is a time to build friendships, laughs, and feel a sense of community. This is a REALLY FUN committee to be a part of each year. The show is scheduled for April 16th, 2021 and will be a virtual event this year.
Restaurant Nights
Local restaurants will sponsor Fouse Elementary nights where proceeds from sales go to support the school. Fouse families go out to eat on a designated night and earn money for the school at the same time. The program can generate hundreds of dollars a year to support PTO programs for the Fouse community.
Creativity Showcase/Invention Convention
The Creativity Showcase and Invention Convention programs provide opportunities for students to express their creativity and ingenuity. The programs provide positive recognition for original works. The process for creating submissions for these programs challenge students to use their critical thinking skills as well as their creative talents.
Box Tops/Coke Codes
The General Mills Box Tops for Education program can generate several hundred dollars a year to support PTO programs for the Fouse community. Box Tops has gone almost entirely digital so you can collect them throughout the year. Coke Codes is a new program we are participating in, which you collect the coke codes from the coke packaging. You simply enter them online via the CokeRewards website and Fouse gets credit.
Pancake Breakfast
Building a strong Fouse community benefits each of us. Taking the time to connect outside of the classroom helps Fouse students, parents, and staff to create meaningful relationships. It is an opportunity to build friendships, engage with each other, and feel a sense of community. This is a very special event where everyone can enjoy a fresh cooked breakfast and even entertainment put on by our students. This event has musical performances and a raffle. This event is scheduled for Fall.
Goodies with Grands
This popular event is a wonderful time to enjoy a quick breakfast with your grandparents or other relatives before school. Volunteers are needed to assist the committee head with flyer copies, hanging up student artwork, setting up tables, picking up bananas, donuts & coffee to be brought to school, and so on. Plus we need volunteers to actually stand behind the tables and help serve our students and their grandparents. You will not regret volunteering for this event.
Library Volunteers
Help during the day to assist our kids in picking out their library books, read to them, help in re-shelving book returns and so much more.
Staff Appreciation
Each year we spend a week thanking out teachers for the wonderful eduction they give our students here at Fouse. Each day of the week will have a different theme. For example, on Monday, it may be "Write & bring your teacher a special note". Help schedule and communicate each days' theme to our student body. And plan a catered lunch on the last day of the week for all staff. Spring dates are May 3rd-7th, 2021.
Copy Volunteers
This wonderful group of parents come in when their time permits to assist our school's staff in the copy room. Teachers and administration have lots of copies that need made on a daily & weekly basis. If you have any available time to come in during the week, we would really appreciate the help. And the front office will always be there to assist you with the copier logins and "what" needs copied at that time.
Classroom Parties
Each year, all Fouse classrooms celebrate a 'Winter Party' and a 'Valentines Party'. The fall party has been replaced with Trunk or Treat, where people can sign up and decorate their cars or "trunks" and hand out goodies. This committee was formed in order to appropriately communicate to all our Fouse families with details for each of these parties. Including, but not limited to: how to collect & then properly check in family members wanting to attend, organizing a classroom service project, and so on.
Fifth Grade 'Clap Out' Signs
Each year our 5th grade parents put together "signs/poster board" of each of their 5th grade children that are ending their stay with Fouse and moving up to the Big Leagues at Genoa Middle School. All signs are placed around the front lawn and drop off lanes in the front of our school during the last week of school. Sometimes there are students in 5th grade that do not get a sign made for them. This committee is to step in and ensure EVERY student has a sign made that represents them.
Fouse Scholarship
Each year Fouse awards scholarship money to a graduating highschool student that was also a Fouse Fox back in the day. This group collects all applications and then using a rubric, decides the winner in early March. Fouse PTO will write a check to the student and present it at the Evening of Excellence held in May. Or even write a check directly to the college or university that the student will be attending in the fall.
GEM Award Nominations
The Great Educator Mentor (GEM) Awards Program is a collaboration between Westerville Parent Council and Roush Honda of Westerville. It was created in 2002 to recognize those in our community who go above and beyond and make a difference in the lives of our students. Each year one adult from each building, as well as several district recipients, will be honored with this prestigious award.
