What a way to show your Fouse Fox Spirit! We raised an amazing amount of $887.15! Also, thanks to all who shopped at Five Below in December. We earned $50.61! Thanks for your support! Girls on the Run Spring Registration begins Monday, January 29th Girls on the Run of Central Ohio uses lottery registration system. This is the most fair way to conduct registration and alleviates the stress related to signing up at a specific time. There is no longer a need to dash to your computers all at once! Spring 2018 Lottery Registration period: Registration for the lottery will open on Monday, January 29th, and close on Thursday, February 1st, at 11:59 pm. The computer-generated lottery will be run on Friday, February 2nd, for all sites. Registration will be closed this day. If you ARE selected in the lottery: You will receive an email that you have been selected, and your credit card will be charged. If you ARE NOT selected in the lottery: You will receive an email that you have been placed on the waiting list, and your credit card will NOT be charged at this time. Emails will be sent throughout the day on Friday, February 2nd, indicating whether a participant has been/not been selected in the lottery. Please check our website to see when the lottery registration will open for your site at: girlsontheruncentralohio.org/Program-Registration The Spring 2018 season will start on Monday, March 5th and run THROUGH the week of Monday, May 14th, 2018. Kindergarten Registration for 2018-2019 Westerville City Schools (WCS) is preparing to begin the registration process for Kindergarten for the 2018-2019 school year. All elementary schools in WCS, including Fouse, offer Half-Day and All-Day Kindergarten. All-Day Kindergarten is a fee-based, lottery program. Those who wish to apply for All-Day Kindergarten may do so beginning January 31st after 5pm. Additional details are available online at http://www.wcsoh.org/ADK. Second Annual Daddy-Daughter Sweetheart Dance - February 12 The Westerville Central Track and Field boosters will host its second annual Daddy-Daughter Sweetheart Dance at Westerville Central High School on Monday evening, February 12, from 7:00 to 8:45 p.m. The dance is open to grades K-5. Music, refreshments, door prizes and a raffle to win an American Girl doll are all part of the evening. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.locallevelevents.com/events/details/4161. Pop Tabs Quarterly Contest - Sponsored by Student Council Each quarter, Student Council will be hosting a contest to see which classroom can collect the most Pop Tabs. A new contest is starting for the 3rd quarter so if you have any aluminum Pop Tabs from cans, we encourage you to send them in with your student & place them in the collection container in their classroom from now until March 7th. The winning class will win a sweet treat! The Pop Tabs are donated to The Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio, which uses them to raise thousands of dollars for their program every year. Valentine's Classroom Parties - Friday, 2/9 The Lead Room Parents in each classroom are starting to plan your students' Valentine's Classroom Parties, which are scheduled for Friday, 2/9, at 2:30pm (10:30am for AM K classes). The Valentine's party will have one unified community service project. Each class will create one big, simple card which will be distributed to local police and fire departments. The theme for the card will be 'Thanks for Being the Heart of Our City'. The kids can sign their name and any message they would like to write on the card for our city heroes. The card should be dropped off in the Fouse Office after the party and will be distributed accordingly by the PTO. Fouse wants to let our firefighters and police officers how much we care and appreciate them keeping us safe. Please keep an eye out for communication from your Lead Room Parents regarding what they have planned for the party and any assistance they may need. If you would like to volunteer and/or attend during the party, the Lead Room Parents will be gathering a list of attendees so that they can let the office know who to expect that day. We appreciate your support and partnership to help ensure our Valentine's Parties are a memorable event for all students! GEM Award Nominations Now Accepted The Great Educator Mentor (GEM) Awards Program is a collaboration between Westerville Parent Council and Roush Honda of Westerville. It was created in 2002 to recognize those in our community who go above and beyond and make a difference in the lives of our students. Each year, one adult from each building, as well as several district recipients, will be honored with this prestigious award. The 2017-2018 nomination process has now begun. Please refer to the attached flier for details regarding this program. The GEM nomination form is also attached, and copies of the nomination form are also available for pick-up in the office or can be found at the WPC website http://westervilleparentcouncil.com/gem-awards-2/. Nominations will be accepted through Friday, February 9th. Completed nomination forms may be submitted to the Fouse office. Winter Box Top Contest Starts The Winter Box Tops Contest will be getting underway soon, so it's time to start gathering the Box Tops you've been collecting! Contest details will be sent home Friday, February 2nd. The contest runs through Friday, February 23rd. Thanks in advance for your participation! Reminder: Bundle Up for Outdoor Recess! Now that the cold winter weather has officially arrived, we would just like to remind all parents to ensure that your children are dressed appropriately for recess each day. Outdoor recess will take place daily unless the windchill is 20 degrees or below! Heavy coats, hats, gloves, mittens, etc. will ensure that students are warm and comfortable outside during the winter months. It is also a very good idea to write your child's name in their outdoor gear as well. Fouse Variety Show - Entry Forms Due This Friday The PTO is now accepting entry forms for the 2018 Fouse Variety Show, which takes place on Friday, February 16th, at Westerville Central High School! If you play an instrument, sing, juggle, tell jokes, dance or have another talent...we want you!!! In addition to the show on February 16th, performers are also asked to attend the Preview Night in the Fouse gym on Friday, February 2nd. You may come any time between 6-8pm. (If your performer is playing a musical instrument, including piano, it is not necessary for them to attend Preview Night.) All entry forms must be returned to your student's teacher or to the Fouse office no later than this Friday, January 26th. Full details of the Variety Show and an entry form were sent home in students' folders this past Friday. A copy of the form is also attached for your reference. 2018 Creativity Showcase - Submissions Due This Thursday It's no fun being cooped up indoors with it being sub zero outside, right? Have no fear, we've got your boredom buster! It's that time of year again...time for the 2018 CREATIVITY SHOWCASE! We had record breaking participation last year, so let's show our school community even MORE entries this year! All entries will be displayed during the February 16th Variety Show at Westerville Central HS. This year's theme is: Dream Catcher! What's that, you ask? Well, tell us about the funniest dream you ever had. Paint a picture of it, make a comic strip to illustrate the calamity of events, sculpt an action shot of the silliest part, write a short narrative about it - the sky is the limit! And this year, we have a NEW category! You can submit either a creative writing piece, a 2D work of art, or a 3D work of art. Rules/guidelines for entries are attached below, and submissions are due Thursday, January 25th. Let's see what you've dreamed up!
