Hello, Fouse Parents!
We hope you've enjoyed your weekend! Here is this week's update, which contains information about upcoming events at Fouse, the weekly rotation schedule and other general tips and reminders: Schedule For The Week 12/5 (Mon)......D Day 12/6 (Tues).....E Day 12/7 (Wed)......F Day 12/8 (Thurs)....A Day 12/9 (Fri).........B Day (Student Council Spirit Day: Dress in Xmas Wear!) Reminder: Bundle Up for Outdoor Recess! Now that the cold winter weather has officially arrived, we would just like to remind all parents to ensure that your children are dressed appropriately for recess each day. Outdoor recess will take place daily unless the windchill is 20 degrees or below! Heavy coats, hats, gloves, mittens, etc. will ensure that students are warm and comfortable outside during the winter months. It is also a very good idea to write your child's name in their outdoor gear as well. PTO Restaurant Nights Thanks to everyone who attended our Restaurant Night at Coldstone Creamery! As we mentioned last week, we are also partnering with the new Jersey Mike's, which is opening in the Kroger/Home Depot plaza. Due to a delay in their construction timeline, the restaurant will be opening a week later than initially planned, so we are moving the dates of our fundraiser accordingly. This coming Friday, 12/9, we will be sending home 2 coupons with each student for a free sandwich that is redeemable between Wednesday, 12/14, through Sunday, 12/18. Jersey Mike's is asking for a $2 donation for each coupon redeemed, 100% of which will go directly to Fouse PTO! Additional coupons will be available for pick up in the office, if you are in need of a few more for your family. Please review the flier and coupons we're sending home this Friday for more details. We appreciate you stopping into this new business to try their sandwiches and provide a little donation which goes right back to school to help our students and staff! Lastly, when you shop at Five Below (www.fivebelow.com) from Friday, 12/9, through Sunday, 12/19, the company will donate 10% of your purchase total to Fouse! Both the Polaris and Easton locations are participating. A flier will be coming home in your students' folders this Friday 12/9. You must present the flier to the cashier when you checkout in order for your purchase to count towards this fundraiser. Happy shopping! Winter Classroom Parties - Wednesday, 12/21 As the holiday season gets into full swing, the Lead Room Parents in each classroom are starting to plan your students' Winter Classroom Parties, which are scheduled for Wednesday, 12/21, at 2:30pm (10:30am for AM K classes). Please keep an eye out for communication from them soon regarding any assistance they may need and if you would like to volunteer and/or attend during the party, the Lead Room Parents will be gathering a list of attendees so that they can let the office know who to expect that day. For your reference, attached is a copy of the party information that was sent home earlier this Fall. Our students are already looking forward to this memorable event - thanks for your support! Canned Food Drive - WARM Fouse is collecting canned goods for Westerville Area Resource Ministry (WARM) food pantry in Westerville. We would like to donate a large box of food for our families in Westerville! Students may place their donated items in the collection box located in the foyer at Fouse. For more information about WARM, please visit www.warmwesterville.org. Thank you for your generosity! Donate to Student Council's Mitten Tree Beginning this week, Student Council will be collecting hats, scarves, gloves and mittens to be donated to Fouse students in need as well as Westerville Caring and Sharing. Pop Tabs Quarterly Contest - Sponsored by Student Council Each quarter, Student Council will be hosting a contest to see which classroom can collect the most Pop Tabs. This quarter's contest ends on Wednesday, 12/21. The winning classroom will win candy canes! If you have any aluminum Pop Tabs from cans, we encourage you to send them in with your student. The Pop Tabs are donated to The Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio, which uses them to raise thousands of dollars for their program every year! For more information about this program, please visit http://rmhc-centralohio.org/get-involved/pop-tabs/. Student Council appreciates your support of this wonderful program! Student Council – Donation For The Troops Our Fouse Student Council has adopted a troop of Army soldiers that are stationed in Afghanistan. The group of 3rd Cavalry Regiment Army Infantry soldiers, which includes Mrs. Doone’s son, Cody, deployed in May 2016. The soldiers work for countless hours/days in a row and miss many comforts of home. We are asking Fouse families to help make their deployment a little more comfortable by donating an item or two from the attached list of suggested items. These items include basic toiletry items as well as snacks. Student Council is planning to send packages of your donated items to the troops at both Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you would like to provide a donation, items will be accepted throughout the holiday season, although the sooner the better. We want our troops to know how much we appreciate them and their service to our country. Thanks to your generosity, Student Council shipped 5 boxes to the troops last week! All additional donations received between now and the start of winter break will be sent to Texas, to a group of soldiers just returning from deployment. The donations will be used for baskets and to be placed in the barracks. Thank you so much for your support! Hand Sanitizer Donations Requested Our lunch/recess schedules have been adjusted slightly this year and some grades now go to recess first and then come in for lunch after. This means that they class doesn’t have the opportunity to wash hands before they eat. Thankfully, our Duty Aides have been on top of our students' safety, health and well-being and have been hand sanitizing the kids. Thank you for all of the sanitizer donations received at the beginning of the year. Our Duty Aides are now running low and would appreciate more donations large bottles of hand sanitizer. If you would like to donate, please send in hand sanitizer with your student; they are asked drop it off in the office. Thanks very much for your help with this! Girls on the Run Coaches Needed for Spring 2017 Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a professionally designed, award-winning program exclusively for girls in grades 3-5. It is much more than a running program. GOTR of Franklin County is a part of an international program that uses the joy of running and an inspiring curriculum to teach girls about self-esteem, positive body image, health and community service. The spring 2017 season will start the week of Monday, March 6th and run THROUGH the week of Monday, May 15th. Coaches are needed for the Spring Season to continue this important program at Fouse! You do not need to be a "runner" to volunteer and all training is provided. Training Dates (Only need to attend one of the 4 sessions): *Location is TBD.
As an incentive, all volunteers will be able to pre-register their daughter before registration opens for everyone else. Girls on the Run of Franklin County will move to a lottery registration system for the spring 2017 season. This is the fairest way to conduct registration and alleviates the stress related to signing up at a specific time. There is no longer a need to dash to your computers all at once! Spring 2017 Lottery Registration period: Registration for the lottery will open on Monday, February 6th, and close onThursday, February 9th, at 11:59 pm. Please see the website for more info: http://girlsontherunfranklincounty.org/volunteer/ If you have any questions specific to the program at Fouse, you can contact Sharon Stachecki (GOTR site liaison for Fouse) at [email protected]. Library Volunteers Needed! Volunteers in the library are critical to helping all of our Fouse students have a positive experience in our library. The library is open on A, B, D and F days. Library volunteers can choose which days they want to help. They are not required to commit to any specific schedule and background checks are not required. If you are available to help in the library, please use this link to sign up for specific day(s) and time(s): http://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040c4aafa728a64-sign PTO Communication If you have not already done so, we encourage you to "like" our school's Facebook page.
