Westerville Bowl-A-Thon Made a Striking Difference!
Pins went flying as Westerville community members and leaders spared no expense in creating fierce competition at the 2017 Westerville Bowl-A-Thon held last Saturday, 2/11.
This fun, friendly and sometimes competitive afternoon of bowling, hosted by the Westerville Scholarship Foundation, the Westerville Education Foundation and the Westerville Symphony, serves as the largest Westerville fundraiser benefiting Westerville students and educators.  The three non-profit organizations will utilize funds generated by the Bowl-A-Thon to finance scholarships to students of all ages; provide grants to educators; and offer musical performances and programs to classrooms in Westerville.
Generous donations from Westerville community members and businesses allowed the Westerville Bowl-A-Thon to gross nearly $29,000 to support Westerville students and educators.
Chairperson Tara Trigg said, “Thank you to the volunteers, sponsors, bowlers, in-kind contributors and community advocates who made the 17th annual Westerville Community Bowl-A-Thon a striking success!”  This year, with the help of a few brilliant Westerville South High School students, the event was rebranded with a new website and logo.  With this makeover and the unwavering support of so many, the Education and Scholarship Foundations and Symphony will be well funded for 2017.
Thank you very much to the Fouse staff team who represented our school at the event!

A+ Employee Recognition Program
Applications are being accepted through Friday, March 10th, for the Spring 2017 Westerville City Schools A+ Employee Recognition Program, which celebrates extraordinary staff members.  Honorees will be invited to attend a Board of Education meeting where the superintendent and board members will recognize their contributions.  Awards are presented twice during each school year – once in the fall, and once in the spring – to employees who distinguish themselves through a single or ongoing demonstration of exemplary performance.

The selection committee’s decision is guided by evaluating how each nominee’s actions demonstrate:
  • Support of the district’s Mission Statement, which is, “To prepare students to contribute to the competitive and changing world in which we live;”
  • Willingness to go above and beyond normal expectations in support of students; and
  • Behavior consistent with one or more of the district’s values, including respect, inclusiveness, community, communication, collaboration, innovation, nurturing, trust and accountability.
Winners will be selected by a committee under the direction of the superintendent, which includes the treasurer, two Board of Education members, two community members and the community engagement coordinator.
Not all nominees will receive an award.  Nomination forms can be found on the Westerville City School District’s website, www.wcsoh.org.
