Pajama Day for Faith Pruden Foundation - Friday, March 23rd On Friday, March 23rd, Student Council is sponsoring Pajama Day! To participate, Student Council is asking students to bring in a $1 donation that day to support the Friends of Faith Pruden Foundation. Fouse's 2017-2018 GEM Award Announcement The GEM Awards program, which stands for Great Educator Mentor, recognizes volunteers and district staff who go above and beyond for students in Westerville schools. Westerville Parent Council and Roush Honda sponsor this program, which is now in its fifteenth year.
Each building in our district solicits nominations and a committee comprised of staff and parents selects an honoree. At this time, we are excited to announce Fouse’s 2017-2018 GEM Nominees:
Deb Ubry- 1st Grade Teacher, Susan Kettlewell- Parent Volunteer, Tracy Price-ESL Teacher. All of our GEM Nominees are such caring, valuable members of our Fouse community who go above and beyond every day. We extend each of them our sincerest appreciation for all that they do!
The GEM Award Recipients were just announced and Tracy Price has been named Fouse’s Honoree this year. She will be recognized during a special session of the Westerville Board of Education on Monday, 4/30, at 7pm in the Westerville North High School Auditorium. Congratulations and thank you, Ms. Price!!!
Spring Book Fair - Volunteers Needed Our Spring Book Fair is quickly approaching and it's time to start gathering volunteers! The Book Fair will take place Monday, May 7th - Thursday, May 10th. The operation and success of our Book Fair is totally dependent on volunteer participation. Goodies with Grands – RSVP to Attend, Volunteers Needed We are pleased to announce our 2nd Annual Goodies with Grands event! On Thursday, May 10th, from 8-8:55am, students may invite a grandparent or special adult to join them at Fouse for donuts, coffee & juice! Students and their guests may also shop at Book Fair before or after breakfast, if they would like. A flier will be sent home in your students' Friday folders soon; it will accompany the Scholastic Book Fair flier.
Also, to help ensure that our students and their Grands have a great experience at this event, we are also in need of parent volunteers. Westerville Central Theatre Presents Breakfast With Belle - April 7th The Westerville Central High School Theatre Department is hosting Breakfast with Belleon Saturday morning, April 7th, from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. in the Commons, located at 7118 Mt. Royal Avenue. Cost is $10 for adults; $7 for children ages 3-12; and free for youngsters 2 and under. Reservations are required by Wednesday, April 4th, and space is limited. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.wchstheatre.org. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite fairy tale character, and all proceeds will benefit Central’s Theatre Department.
Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, orange juice and coffee. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Belle, make crafts, take photos, and receive goodie bags (for children ages 3 to 12). They can also register to win two tickets to Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, which will be performed at Central from April 27th-29th. Reserved tickets for the musical will go on sale beginning April 2nd, also at www.wchstheatre.org.
Westerville Education Foundation , Artful Affair - May 5th The Westerville Education Foundation invites adults, students and school employees to participate in its upcoming AN ARTFUL AFFAIR fundraising event; an art auction and benefit to be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. at The Lakes Golf & Country Club. Westerville Parks & Rec - Arbor Day Poster Contest - Due April 12th In celebration of Tree City USA, the Westerville Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to announce the 2018 Arbor Day Poster Contest. This year's contest is open to all 3rd-5th grade students in the Westerville School District or City of Westerville. One grand prize winner will be chosen to have a tree planted in their name at a location within the City of Westerville. All participants and their families are invited to join us for the Arbor Day Celebration and Awards Ceremony on Friday, April 27th, at 9am at Everal Barn. Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn Reading Month March is National Reading month and to celebrate this Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn Company is offering a free small popcorn of any flavor when your child completes at least 6 hours of reading in the month of March. They are located at 15 N. State St. in Westerville! What a great treat for all that reading your kids are doing! The reading log is attached below.
Westerville Education Foundation, Starry Night - April 8th On Sunday, April 8th, from 2-6pm, bring your family to the 6th annual Starry Night learning festival, sponsored by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Westerville Partners for Education, at Westerville North High School. The festival will offer experiences with experts from Columbus’ premier educational, business, and community organizations. Geared toward students in preschool through 8th grade and their caregivers and families, the event highlights the connection between all the arts and science—with the theme, “Art and Science – Fueling Imagination”.
See how crafts transformed from art to engineering & Science, how things work, and learn to work with tools. Westerville Partners for Education organizes this event as an annual opportunity for families to learn together and to develop relationships with community organizations. Starry Night allows us to go out and find the most fascinating educational organizations in the Columbus area and put them in a room with kids and families.
Reminder from the Fouse Health Clinic A quick reminder of clinic guidelines for sending student’s home from school: 1. Fever of 100 degrees or higher 2. Vomiting 3. Diarrhea 4. Undiagnosed rash or head lice Remember: If your child is sent home with a fever or wakes up with a fever, the student needs to stay home for 24 hours after they are fever free without the help of medication. If a doctor diagnoses your child with an illness, please let the attendance clerk know what the diagnosis is when calling your child’s absence in. Thank you for your help!
Fouse Health Clinic - Clothing Donations The school clinic has a great need for gently used clothing. If you have any unwanted clothing, please consider donating it to the clinic. Items in the greatest need include the following: · Sweatpants/Track Pants · Underwear · Jeans · Shorts · Socks · Shirts · Tennis Shoes/Slip-on Shoes (no boots) Items are needed in sizes 4-14 for both boys and girls.
