Now in year thirteen, the GEM Awards program honors adult volunteers and staff in Westerville Schools who go above and beyond for students during the previous year. The Nomination period runs now through the end of the day on Friday, February 5, 2016, and winners will be announced in mid-March. The GEM Awards Celebration will take place on Monday, April 18, 7:00pm at Westerville North High School. In addition to individual recipients, nominations are being requested for the Terry Gordon Business Award, presented by our sponsor and GEM partner, Roush Honda. Please consider nominating a business or non-profit organization that devotes considerable time, talent and/or treasure to your school building and/or the district. The same nomination form can be used for both individual and business nominations and is attached for your use. http://www.wcsoh.org/News/4641#sthash.7iXFgHJb.dpbs Clothes Request from the School Nurse We are in desperate need of your used or unwanted kids clothing in the clinic! We have so many kids who spill on, get sick on, or soak in puddles at recess. Any gender clothing is welcome (but we are especially low on boys). Comfortable t-shirts, and pants like sweats, track pants, or leggings are ideal, but we will take anything! Underwear and socks, too. Multiple sizes needed from about 5-16. Please remember us when you are cleaning out your drawers after the holidays! You can drop off any donations in the clinic with myself or the health aide. Thank you for your consideration! WCSD TEXT MESSAGE NOTIFICATION REMINDER If you would like to receive text message emergency notifications from the Westerville City Schools, you may opt into this service by using your cellular telephone to text the word ALERT to 22300. Please note that this text must be sent using a cellular telephone with a number that has been registered with the school district in PowerSchool. If you have recently changed your cellular telephone number or any other contact information, please notify each school in which you have a student enrolled to update your PowerSchool record. Message and data rates may apply. Teacher of the Month Program In partnership with ThisWeek Community News, and through the support of Education First Credit Union, the WEF is pleased to provide community members with an opportunity to recognize outstanding Westerville City School District teachers through its new Teacher of the Month program. Teachers chosen to receive this honor will be featured in a full-page advertisement in the ThisWeek Westerville News & Public Opinion. Following a thorough and thoughtful review of nominees, three recipients -- one from the elementary, middle and high school levels -- will be selected each month. Nominations may be submitted through the WEF website at www.westervilleeducationfoundation.com. Ways to Support the Fouse PTO… Without Spending Extra!
