We are so pleased to announce that $2,119 was collected for Lee Elementary in Tampa, FL, during our “Spread the Sunshine” donation drive! Your kindness & generosity will help Lee’s effort to recover after their building was devastated by a fire shortly after Hurricane Irma hit. On behalf of the Staff Service Leaders/Hurricane Relief Committee, thank you very much for your support! WEF Teacher of the Month - Mrs. Byers-Spulock! Congratulations to Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Byers-Spurlock for being October’s Westerville Education Foundation Teacher of the Month for the elementary division. Thanks for all you do for our Fouse family! Fall Book Fair - Volunteers Needed!! Our Fall Book Fair has arrived! PTO Restaurant Night - Max & Erma's on Monday, 10/23 Tomorrow, Monday, 10/23, the PTO is partnering with the Westerville Max & Erma's for a Restaurant Night! To participate, show your server the flier that was sent home in students' backpacks on Thursday, 10/19, or you may simply show the attached electronic version of the flier to them when you're paying for your meal. Max & Erma's will donate 20% back to our school! Please see the flier for additional details. Thank you for your support! On Sale Now: Pancake Breakfast Tickets Time to gather your friends and family for an all-you-can-eat buffet! The Pancake Breakfast is right around the corner…Saturday, November 11th, from 8:30am-11am. Pre-sale order forms for the Pancake Breakfast were sent home with all students on 10/13. Please review the form for details; a copy is attached to this email for your reference. Discounted pre-sale tickets will be sold through Wednesday, 11/8. Please send in your order form, along with payment, to your student’s teacher. Fall Box Tops Contest Has Ended Our Fall Box Tops Contest has come to an end. Thank you to everyone who participated! Our parent volunteers are now hard at work counting all of your Box Tops. We will announce the winning grade later this week! There will be another contest that begins in mid-January, so please keep collecting Box Tops this winter!" Yearbook Art Contest As always, we are excited to use student art throughout our school yearbook! A Yearbook Art Contest entry form will be sent home with all students by Wednesday, 10/25. Contest winners will be selected from each grade to be featured on the front and back cover, as well as on each class page inside the yearbook. If your student would like to participate in the contest, please ensure their form is turned in to their teacher by Friday, 11/3. Student Directory – In Progress The PTO is currently in the process of creating the Student Directory. We anticipate that it will be complete by the end of October; once we have the date of its availability finalized, we will communicate that to you. This year, hard copies of the directory will be printed and available to be picked up in the office. For privacy purposes, the directory will not be posted online. Martin Luther King Fouse Award - Applications Due 10/27 Many exceptional students in Westerville exemplify the qualities of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Perhaps one of them is here at Fouse or in your scout troop, church, sports team or neighborhood. Here is your opportunity to shine the spotlight on some deserving youngsters. Nominations are being accepted through October 27th for the 2018 Westerville Martin Luther King Fouse Award, named in honor of William H. Fouse, the first black graduate of Westerville Public Schools and Otterbein College. One award for each level (Primary and Secondary) will be given to a pupil living in the Westerville City School district. This year’s theme is “Never Lose Infinite Hope.” Nominators will be asked to explain, within one typewritten, double-spaced page, why their candidate should be considered for the Fouse Award, citing specific examples of how each student:
Award winners will be notified in December and each will receive two free registrations to the 2018 Westerville Martin Luther King Breakfast Celebration, where they will be recognized. From Westerville Parent Council - Discounted Columbus Crew Playoff Tickets The Columbus Crew wants to extend a discounted ticket offer to Westerville City Schools to join the Crew on their march through the 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs! The team is unbeaten in 9 straight and clinched a playoff spot! See the attachment for more information/promo code to use to purchase tickets. Please note that if the Crew does not end up hosting a match in the Knockout or Semifinal Round, they will refund all purchases. Tickets just went on sale though and they will sell quickly.
